Hello, This is Daffa writing about my trip experience again. First of all I am sorry for waiting for my next writing since I am quite busy with my works especially during Ramadan. So for those who read this, I am going to tell you about Malang and why I think Malang is a great city for having a vacation in Indonesia. I hope by reading this, you know about the places you can visit in Malang as your references when you get there. I hope you enjoy reading this writing.

On my first day in Malang, I arrived at Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport. I was waiting for my friend who is a local in Malang. There my friend picked me up and I stayed for 7 days at his house. luckily his family was out of town for two weeks so I didn’t feel like a burden to them. Then we went to the Cafe in the evening to try the Coffee Beer. It’s a coffee drink but mix it with soda and this drink doesn’t have the alcohol in it.

2nd Day

On the 2nd day, we went to Jatim Park which is Jatim Park 3. Jatim Park has 3 types of parks, namely Jatim Park 1 which shows rides like roller coasters (I didn’t visit this Jatim Park), Jatim Park 2 which shows animal parks (I visited this on my 4th day), and Jatim Park 3 which shows Dinosaur Park and other Unique Parks. Here are the images that you can see in Jatim Park 3:

In Jatim Park 3 you can see a lot of Instagrammable places to take a picts like in Fig 3 where you can photo with unique dinosaurs and with other statues like in the White House with ex-president of the United States Barrack Obama or Captain America and other heroes.

3rd Day

On the third day, I went to one of the waterfalls in Malang which is called “Coban Rondo” which translated to a “Widow Waterfall”. The name of the waterfall inspired by the story of a newly married couple. the bride’s name was Dewi Anjarwati from Gunung Kawi, and her husband was Raden Baron Kusuma from Mount Anjasmara. After 36 days of marriage or selapan (Javanese), Dewi Anjarwati invited her husband to visit Mount Anjasmara, which was her husband’s homeland. But her parents prohibited them to go. But both insisted on going to risk anything that happened on the trip.

Raden Baron Kusuma and Dewi Anjarwati were accompanied by their four loyal servants. They brought some fruits for Raden Baron Kusuma’s parents. On the trip, Dewi Anjarwati felt thirsty and asked her husband to find water. Accompanied by a servant, Raden Baron Kusuma looked for water to drink. Meanwhile, three other servants were with Dewi Anjarwati waiting him.

After several minutes Raden Baron Kusuma found a small river. Its water was so clear that he was curious to find the spring. Then he heard the sound of gurgling water. He kept walking to find the sound and finally he found a high waterfall (In Javanese is Coban). He immediately took a bath in Coban. After taking a bath, he filled the water into the bottle for his wife, Dewi Anjarwati.

When Raden Baron Kusuma came back, he was shocked by the presence of Joko Lelono. Joko Lelono seemed interested in Dewi Anjarwati’s beauty and tried to take her from Raden Baron Kusuma. The Fight between Joko Lelono and Raden Baron Kusuma was unavoidable. Raden Baron Kusuma asked his servants to take Dewi Anjarwati hiding in the Coban (waterfall) he had found.

They fought so roughly for some days and they both died. Consequently Dewi Anjarwati became a widow (In Javanese is Rondo). Since that, the waterfall was the place where Dewi Anjarwati hid and well-known as Coban Rondo (widow waterfall). It was said that the large rock at the bottom of the waterfall was the seat of Dewi Anjarwati (Source: http://dreameririe.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-history-of-coban-rondo-waterfall.html).

This story makes the tourists curious about the waterfall and visited there. other than the waterfall, you can also do any activities like going to a maze, playing outbound, etc.

After that, I went to “Puncak Paralayang” Batu which is a place to see Batu City from the top of the mountain. I only waited for the sunset and eat Indomie while waiting for the sunset.

The last activity on that day was going to have dinner in Toko Oen Malang. This restaurant has already been in Malang since 1930 and is known for the Ice Cream and the steaks. I order the famous Ice Cream there which I forget the name LOL 🤣 and I eat deer tongue steak which is surprisingly delicious.

4th Day

On the fourth day, I went to Jatim Park 2 where you can see a lot of animals. What made me feel this place is unique compared to other zoos is that It was the first time I see an animal called “Nutria” which is similar to Beaver but different (It’s hard to explain if you have never seen one 😅). If you go to Malang, especially in Batu and you really loved animals this place is SUPER RECOMMENDED.

5th Day

On the 5th day, the moment I was waiting for and the main purpose I want to go to Malang is go to Bromo Mountain. I went to Mount Bromo leaving at 1 am so I could see the sunrise although the sunrise cover by clouds a little bit since I went there in January. It’s very recommended place to go but you have to prepare a lot of jacket because It’s very cold. I would recommended you visit here in the middle of the year (between June to August) because it’s summer, so you able to see beautiful sunrise and see phenomena of “Pasir berbisik” (Sand Whisperer phenomena).

6th Day

On the 6th day, I went to “Kampung Warna Warni Jodipan” which is famous for its colorful houses in a village in Malang. It’s an interesting place to visit in Malang where you can take photos for your Instagram feeds because of the colorful houses in that village. One of my favorite spots for taking a picture is on this boat where there is an Indonesian Flag.

7th Day

On my last day in Malang, I only went to Brawijaya University which is one of the biggest Universities in Malang and also top 10 Campuses in Indonesia (The last time I check the rank of the campus in Indonesia). After that, I went to Airport and go home.

Malang is an interesting city to visit in Indonesia, if you go to the East Java region make sure to visit Malang. Based on my experience, 5 days should be enough to visit Malang unless you want to go to all of the tourist attractions in Malang I think it needs more than that 😅. I hope whoever reads this can feel entertained and get insights about what places you should visit in Malang which can be an Itinerary reference to visit Malang. to anyone reading this hope you can give me a review to write better in the future. I know it’s been 5 days since Eid Al-Fitr but Happy Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends.
